Hello New York Fashion Week
I woke up very excited to see what was going on at the Mercedes- Benz fashion week. I of course had no idea that it was going to be streamed live on you tube. (Thank you Maybelline for sponsoring this). And if you did not know that it was being streamed, now you know. That was how my day started off. Because I don’t have morning classes on Thursdays, I did not feel guilty being in bed for hours watching the runway shows.
First was Richard Chai’s line. It was very good. The materials were on point. The colors were well chosen. The details of the trousers and skirts had very good details. Chai’s collection taught me that one can wear loose fitting clothes and still look sexy without having any skin showing. It had a masculine feel to it with a girly touch. It is safe to say that Richard Chai has made it to the list of my top ten favorite designers.
At first, I was not crazy about Nicholas K’s collection. I think that the make-up, the wigs and the hats were a little bit too much but again, that is fashion for you. However after the other half of the collection came on the runway, I fell in love with it. The details were brilliant. The jackets were to die for and the choice of boots was…..i cannot even put it in words. GCBG was edgy and sexy but not too much in your face. It made me take a deep breath and took me to another world. Tadashi Shoji used lace and silk and more lace. His gowns had ruffle details and I could tell that the pointy heels are making their way back into our lives.
It is only the first day of the fashion week and I am already going insane. The shows were good. The designers did a fabulous job and the details on the clothes were amazing. I will keep you posted about the week because this is the biggest glamorous trade show. Follow me on twitter @Reginahbaby.
