WOULD YOU SPLURGE?: Christian Louboutin expands brand with a nail polish collection.
Christian Louboutin is strutting all the way to the bank with his new nail polish collection. If you don’t know the history of your favorite red bottoms, here is a short summary. It happened in 1992 when Papa Louboutin was wondering why his actual shoe wasn’t as colorful and persuasive as his original sketch especially at the bottom. In the spur-of-the-moment, he got nail polish from his assistant who was not happy about it and that is how the famous soles came up.
So it only makes sense that he makes a nail polish collection.
It is so Louboutin. The nail polishes are in a strikingly tall, spiky bottles and cost only about $50. The bottle was inspired by a calligraphy brush but gives you the impression of his high heels. Rouge Louboutin is scheduled to go on sale today in the U.S. concession shop on the eighth floor at the Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and the 15 Louboutin boutiques in the U.S. Saks will do five display windows to the launch. The displays will be of an imaginary city called Loubiville whose shapes give hints of products to come.
The rest of his U.S distribution which include the reminder of Saks doors, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom and a few Sephora stores will unveil the Rouge nail polish on August 6th. Papa Louboutin plans to add new polish colors to accompany new collection of shoes at least twice a year. Lipstick should be the next step.
I love the look of the nail polish and everything about it but I don’t think that a bottle of nail polish for $50 is for the budget shopper. I would love to live in Loubiville.
Would you splurge on Papa Louboutin’s new product?
