Show Review: RTW Oscar de la Renta

Just a few hours ago, Peter Copping showed off the RTW collection of Oscar de la Renta. The first collection since he passed away. Somewhere above, he is hanging out with McQueen. n the front row was Beyonce, Rihanna, Barbara Walters, Kim Kardashian with North West (apparently she could not find a baby sitter) and of course, Annette de la Renta.

According to Vogue, not much seemed different for a de la Renta show: it was the same showroom space that the late Mr de la Renta has always presented in, the same front row women and the same intimate audience, except one thing had changed and he is really missed.
This was Copping’s first collection for the House since he took over as creative director after he left Nina Ricci as a designer. He must have been awfully nervous. Mr de la Renta’s shoes are going to be difficult to fill since he was America’s most loved designer.

“I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the creative director of Oscar de la Renta,” he wrote in a letter left on guests’ seats. “Unfortunately things did not go according to our plans and I never had the chance to work with Oscar, which is something I deeply regret. He continued, “In this, my first collection, I hope to honour Oscar’s legacy and also to start a new chapter for the house.”
This was one of my favorite looks from the collection. It literally touched my soul.

Copping did not skip a beat. Everything about this collection is pure perfection and I can see that a clever decision was made making him creative director. It had the sort of designs that a de la Renta girl would have noticed. The pocketed gowns, full-skirted day suits, cocktail dresses. He kept the small things that set Oscar de la Renta apart from other designers and I could not be any happier. According to vogue, the smile on Mrs de la Renta’s face said it all.

YAAAASSSSS Mr. Copping!!!!!!
