17 year old Semanda Charles Brown wins (SEED) during Kampala Fashion Week

Nothing more exciting than Fashion Week: New York and London are my biasedly my favorites because they are my favorite cities. As a Ugandan born blogger, it would be such a shame not to pay attention to the Kampala Fashion Week.

The third annual Skilled Expressive Entrepreneurial Designers (SEED) Show took place over the weekend. It is hosted by the US Mission Uganda and invitation only so hopefully we will receive one in the future. Each year, designers all over Uganda are given the opportunity to be mentored by designer Ras Kasozi. This is a one month program and there is only one winner.
This year’s winner was 17 year old designer Semanda Charles Brown.

There were ten participants, each of whom had to present just one look to a panel of judges. Just one look can change your life. Brown’s look was confident and sophisticated. It was carefully detailed and I love the use of color. I can also see the use of culture. It was well put together. Congratulations to him.

The looks of other designers needed more guidance but I liked this dress. Some fitting issues at the bottom but as long as I can see it on my Runway then that deserves points. Thank you for walking on my Runway. Don’t forget to go Backstage because there is more where this came from.  I can see the future of Kampala’s fashion scene and it is lit.
